  • Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is an organization under Government of India to recruit staff for various posts in the various ministries, Departments and subordinate offices.
  • SSC conducts Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination for the recruitment of Grade ?B? and ?C? category positions in various Government ministries, Departments & subordinate offices.
  • The major positions include assistant, assistant section officer, inspector, SI, Divisional accountant, statistical investigator ,Auditor, accountant, senior secretariat assistant, Tax assistant, compiler, etc. in ministries/ Departments/ offices/ cadre such as Central secretariat service, CVC, IB, Ministry of Railway, Ministry of External affairs, AFHQ, Other ministries/ Departments/ Organizations, CBDT, CBEC, Directorate of Enforcement, Department of Revenue, CBI, Department of Post, Offices under CAG, Ministry of statistics & prog. Implementation, Central Bureau of Narcotics, NIA, Offices under CGDA, Offices under CGA, Central Govt. Offices & Registrar General of India.
  • Likewise, SSC conducts Combined Higher Secondary Level, 10+2 (CHSL) examinations for recruitment of Postal Assistants/sorting Assistants, Data Entry Operators, Lower Davison clerks & court clerk.
  • SSC makes recruitment to the posts of Multi Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff, a general central service group ?C? non-Gazetted , Non-ministerial post in various central Government ministries / Departments/ Offices , in different states /Union territories for Matriculation Examination (10th) passed candidates.
  • Apart from CGL, CHSL & Multi Tasking Staff , SSC conducts Examination for recruitment of Junior Engineer, SI in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFS include BSF,CRPF,ITBP,CISF & SSB) & Delhi police, ASI in CISF,GD Constable in CAPFs, SSF, NIA & rifleman in Assam rifles, Stenographer (Grade ?C? & ?d?), etc.

Test Pattern

  • SSC CGL Tier I Examination:
    Online Test Objective Multiple Choice Type 200 marks, 0.5 negative marking for each wrong answer, 75 minutes, 4 sections, each section 50 marks) General Intelligence & Reasoning, (25 Questions) General Awareness (25 Questions), Quantitative Aptitude (25 Questions), English Comprehension (25 Questions).
  • Tier II Examination:
    Online Test, Total 400 marks compulsory, Objective Multiple Choice Type,0.25 negative marking in paper-II & 0.5 negative marks in paper-I & paper-III for each wrong answer. Paper 1: Quantitative Abilities (100 questions, 200 marks, 120 Minutes), Paper 2: English Language & Comprehension (200 questions, 200 marks, 120 Minutes), Paper 3: Statistics (100 questions, 200 marks, 120 Minutes) Paper 4: General Studies (Finance and Economics) (200 marks, 120 Minutes) Paper 1 & 2 are compulsory for all the categories of posts .Paper 3 is only for those candidates who apply for the post of Statistical Investigator Gr.II & Compiler. Paper 4 is optional and only for those candidates who apply for the post of AAO.
  • Tier III Examination:
    Pen and Paper mode (100 Marks, 60 Minutes). Descriptive Paper in English/Hindi (writing of Essay/Precis/Letter /Application Writing etc) .
  • Tier IV Examination:
    Data Entry Skill Test (DEST for post of Tax Assistant) / Computer Proficiency Test (CPT for Assistant Section Officer in CSS) The final merit list is prepared on overall performance in Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III. However, the candidate will need to qualify all the tiers i.e. Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III separately. There will be no sectional cut-off. .
